The sixth and final stage of the 2017 China Tour de Ski in Beijing was won by Daniel Maka from the Czech Republic and China’s Li Xin, but the overall champions are Haakon Hjelstuen and Meng Hongliang.

Norway’s Hjelstuen was the outstanding sprinter this year, and had accumulated so many points that he could take it easier in Beijing. All he had to do was finish. The latter is something Li Xin did not manage in the women’s Vasaloppet China race, which put her out of the overall ranking to the advantage of Meng Hongliang.

Daniel Maka beat Wang Qiang and Zhu Mingliang in today’s ski sprint final, and cemented his third place in the overall ranking by doing so. In the women’s, Li Xin once again had the better of her compatriots Man Dandan and Chi Chunxue.
