The 2013 Summer Ski competition in Inner Mongolia’s Yakeshi wil greet a number of top stars from the wintertime China Tour de Ski circuit. Sweden’s Anders Hoegberg, triple Vasaloppet China winner, and Lisa Svensson, last winter’s female champion have both confirmed their participation on 19 June.

The races at the Fengguan Ski Resort in Yakeshi, a beautiful area located about 60km from Hulunbeir in the northern part of Inner Mongolia, will again be sprints over 2 laps for a total distance of 1.2km. Not exactly the speciality of marathon skier Anders Hoegberg in recent years, but he is always a man to beat in China. In fact, Hoegberg won the Summer Ski Tour in China in 2009. Lisa Svensson won the final two stages and the overall of the China Tour de Ski winter tour last January, and will attempt to continue on that path also in summer. In the next few weeks more big names will be announced for next month’s competition.

In total 20 elite skiers from Europe will compete against 20 skiers from the China national ski team. Last year, the event was won by Switzerland’s Philip Furrer and China’s Li Xin in the women’s.
