When Tour de ski China continued during Tuesday 29th, Swedish skiers again took many top positions. With a strong and convincing performance, Anna Simberg, from Bore won the women’s sprint final ahead of Therese Svensson, from Jarpen. The men’s sprint also saw Swedes on the podium where Adam Johansson claimed victory just ahead of Gustav Hall, both from Club IFK Mora.

It seems that today was the day of the 80s generation skiers in the men’s sprint in Xiwuqi. With Swedish Adam Johansson taking the 1stplace, followed by Gustav Hall (SWE), Remi Damevin (FRA) and Johan Edin (SWE), all four top skiers on today’s podium was born 85 or later, leaving more senior skiers like Anders Hogberg and Peter Larsson behind in the small final.

With about three weeks to go to the 3rd Tour de Ski China, there are skiers from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France,Switzerland, China etc confirmed to take part. On Saturday December 26th, skiers set out from Europe for competitions in Tour de Ski China. They will be on a 9 days trip with 3 days of varied cross country races where they will not only compete with each other, but also with the ever improving skiers in Chinas National Ski Team.

A Press Conference was held at the Swedish Embassy in Beijing last Thursday in preparation for Summer Ski Sprint 2009, Aershan Stage.

Sweden’s Anders Hogberg continues to reap victories in China. Today,the winner of Tour de Ski China 08/09 took the leading position in Summer Ski Sprint 2009 by winning the men’s competition in the Aershan Stage.
The track was 2 laps on a 520 m course and today’s competitions started with a qualification race in which Trond Iversen, NOR was the fastest with 1.13.04, closely followed by Thobias Fredriksson, SWE and Olympic sprint gold medalist Bjoern Lind SWE. Anders was on an 8th position after the qualification, 1.95 after Iversens time.

Promising juniors compete with routined Olympic medalists in Summer Ski Sprint

Nordic Ways has received confirmation from some international top skiers that they will take part in Summer Ski Sprint 2009.

One of them is Hilde G Pedersen, a veteran on the international cross country skiing scene and winner of Summer Ski Sprint in 2008. Others are Swedish skier Bjorn Lind, double sprint Gold medalist in Torino Olympics and Thobias Fredriksson, also a World Championships sprint gold medalist.

Summary of Tour de Ski China 08/09

Around New Year of 2009, the 2nd Tour de Ski China was successfully held in 3 cities around China. The skiers endured a temperature of minus 18 degrees centigrade on the first day of competition in Xiwuqi, a 50 km long Chinese Vasaloppet in Changchun and a sprint final at 3200 m above sea level at the newly constructed Ski resort in Shangri-la.
